Home Screen Widgets
Add the Add Refuel widget to your Android home screen for one-tap fuel logging
What home screen widgets are available?
My Cars includes one Android home screen widget:
- Add Refuel — a one-tap shortcut you place on your phone’s home screen that opens the refuel entry screen for a vehicle you choose. It can show the vehicle’s photo and name, and it resizes to fit your layout.
Looking for stats on a screen — fuel efficiency, costs, budgets, charts? Those live on the customizable in-app Dashboard, not on home screen widgets. See the Dashboard article.
A home screen widget sits on your Android home screen (outside the app). A dashboard widget is a card inside the app’s Dashboard. They’re different things — this page covers the home screen widget.
How do I add the Add Refuel widget?
On most Android devices:
- Long-press an empty area of your home screen
- Tap Widgets
- Find My Cars in the list
- Press and hold Add Refuel
- Drag it to your home screen and release
On Samsung devices:
- Pinch on the home screen
- Tap Widgets
- Search for “My Cars”
- Press and hold Add Refuel to place it
How do I choose which vehicle it logs for?
When you place the widget (or tap it to configure):
- Vehicle — pick which vehicle the widget logs refuels for
- Show vehicle photo — turn the car image on or off
Tap Save to apply. Add one widget per vehicle if you’d like a separate quick-refuel button for each car.
How do I use it?
Tap the widget and My Cars opens straight to the refuel entry screen for the selected vehicle — no need to open the app and navigate first. It’s the fastest way to log a fill-up at the pump.
How do I resize the widget?
- Long-press the widget until it’s selected
- Drag the resize handles to adjust
- Tap outside to confirm
Larger sizes show the vehicle photo and name alongside the button; smaller sizes show a compact button.
How do I remove the widget?
- Long-press the widget
- Drag it to Remove or tap the X
- The widget is removed — your app data is unaffected
Widget not appearing in the list?
If you can’t find the My Cars widget:
- Make sure the app is installed to internal storage (not on an SD card)
- Restart your device
- Update to the latest app version
Is more than one widget coming?
Today, Add Refuel is the only home screen widget. For at-a-glance stats, charts, budgets and insights, use the in-app Dashboard, which is fully customizable.
