What can I customize?

My Cars lets you create custom entries for personalized tracking:

How do I access customization?

  1. Go to Menu > Settings
  2. Tap Customize data
  3. Select the category to customize
  4. Add, edit, or delete items

How do I create a custom bill type?

  1. Go to Settings > Customize data > Bill types
  2. Tap the + button
  3. Enter the name (e.g., “Toll fees”)
  4. Optionally add a description
  5. Tap Save

Your new bill type appears when adding bills.

How do I add service categories?

  1. Go to Settings > Customize data > Service categories
  2. Tap + to add
  3. Enter details:
    • Name - Category name
    • Description - Optional details
    • Default reminder - Auto-create reminder after service
  4. Save

Examples: Oil change, Brake service, Tire replacement, Battery check

How do I use custom fuel types?

For vehicles using multiple fuel types (e.g., hybrid, flex-fuel):

  1. Go to Settings > Customize data > Fuel types
  2. Add your fuel types (Petrol, Diesel, Electric, LPG)
  3. When recording refuels, select the appropriate type
  4. View separate efficiency stats per fuel type

What are fuel subtypes? (PRO)

Fuel subtypes are grades within a fuel type:

  • Regular Petrol: E5, E10, Premium
  • Diesel: Regular, Premium, B7

To set up:

  1. Go to Settings > Customize data > Fuel subtypes
  2. Create subtypes under each fuel type
  3. Select subtype when recording refuels
  4. Compare efficiency across grades

How do I create trip types? (PRO)

For tracking different trip purposes:

  1. Go to Settings > Customize data > Trip types
  2. Tap + and add types like:
    • Commute
    • Business
    • Personal
    • Vacation
  3. Select type when recording trips
  4. Generate reports filtered by trip type

What are driving styles and road types? (PRO)

These help analyze efficiency patterns:

Driving Styles:

  • City driving
  • Highway cruising
  • Aggressive/Sport
  • Eco/Economy

Road Types:

  • Urban streets
  • Highway/Motorway
  • Rural roads
  • Mountain roads

Select these when recording refuels or trips to see how driving conditions affect efficiency.

How do I use tags? (PRO)

Tags add flexible labels to any record:

  • Tax deductible - For expense reports
  • Reimbursable - For company claims
  • Warranty work - For service tracking
  • Custom labels - Anything you need

To add tags:

  1. Go to Settings > Customize data > Tags
  2. Create your tags
  3. Apply tags when adding records
  4. Filter and search by tags

How do I manage clients? (PRO)

For business trip billing:

  1. Go to Settings > Customize data > Clients
  2. Add client names
  3. When recording trips, assign a client
  4. Generate client-specific reports for invoicing

Can I edit or delete custom items?

Yes:

  1. Go to Settings > Customize data
  2. Select the category
  3. Tap an item to edit
  4. Or swipe to delete

Note: Deleting a custom type doesn’t delete records using it. Those records keep the old value.

How do I reset customization?

To restore defaults:

  1. Go to Settings > Customize data
  2. Tap the menu (three dots)
  3. Select Reset to defaults
  4. Confirm

This removes custom items but keeps your records intact.
