Recording service records, managing categories, and tracking maintenance costs

How do I record a service?

  1. Go to your vehicle’s Events tab
  2. Tap the + button
  3. Select Service
  4. Choose service categories (oil change, tire rotation, etc.)
  5. Enter the details:
    • Date - When the service was performed
    • Odometer - Current mileage
    • Cost - Total service cost
    • Notes - Any additional details
  6. Tap Save

What service categories are available?

My Cars includes default categories:

  • Basic service - Regular maintenance
  • Major service - Comprehensive maintenance
  • Change tires - Tire replacement

You can create custom categories:

  1. Go to Menu > Settings > Customize data
  2. Select Service categories
  3. Tap + to add a new category
  4. Enter a name and description

How do I track service costs?

Each service record includes a cost field. To view your service spending:

  1. Go to Menu > Charts
  2. Select the Cost pie chart to see service costs vs. fuel and bills
  3. Or use the Running costs chart for service, refuels, and bills breakdown

You can also see total service costs in the Stats section.


How do I see when my last service was?

  1. Go to your vehicle’s Events tab
  2. Look for the Previous service information showing:
    • Date of last service
    • Distance since last service

This helps you track maintenance intervals.


Can I attach photos to service records?

Yes! When adding or editing a service:

  1. Scroll to the Pictures section
  2. Tap to add photos
  3. Take a new photo or select from gallery

This is useful for keeping receipts, before/after photos, or documentation.


How do I set up service reminders?

To get notified when maintenance is due:

  1. Go to your vehicle’s Events tab
  2. Tap + and select Reminder
  3. Choose the service type
  4. Set reminder conditions:
    • Time-based: Every X months/years
    • Distance-based: Every X km/miles
  5. Save the reminder

You’ll receive a notification when either condition is met first.
