Importing and exporting data in various formats

What’s the easiest format for importing data?

CSV format is recommended. You can create it in Excel or Google Sheets:

  1. Create a spreadsheet with columns matching My Cars fields
  2. Export as CSV
  3. Import in My Cars via Menu > Import/Export

How do I export my data?

Exporting your records to CSV or PDF is a PRO feature:

  1. Go to Menu > Backup & Restore (or Import/Export)
  2. Choose Export to CSV (open it in Excel or Google Sheets) or Export to PDF (a printable report)

On the free plan you can still create a full local backup of all your data — see Backup & Restore.


What date format is required for CSV imports?

Use this format: yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm

Example: 2024-03-15 14:30


How do I import data from another app?

  1. Export data from your other app (usually CSV format)
  2. Open the file in Excel/Google Sheets
  3. Adjust column names to match My Cars format
  4. Save as CSV
  5. Import in My Cars via Menu > Admin > Import/Export

What columns are needed for refuel CSV import?

Required columns:

  • date - Format: yyyy-mm-dd hh:mm
  • odometer - Total mileage
  • quantity - Fuel amount
  • price - Total cost

Optional columns:

  • unit_price - Price per unit
  • full_tank - true/false
  • station - Station name
  • notes - Any notes
